From Camp to Global Worker
Testimony of Haleigh Ott Vargas
Haleigh grew up in a Christian home and trusted in Christ as her Savior when she was seven years old. When she was 13 years old, God put a desire on her heart to go to the least-reached people of the world to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Haleigh was discipled in many ways through her Bible Fellowship Church pastor who was once an overseas missionary and she was also discipled through her time she served at Victory Valley Camp.
“My time at Victory Valley Camp, serving every week, being encouraged in the word of God, hearing testimonies from other teenagers about how God was at work in their lives, all contributed to where I am now, a BFC global worker in Bolivia serving with my husband and my two boys. We are on the edge of the wetlands near the Amazon jungle and we get to introduce people to Jesus Christ at our teaching center so they can go back to their villages to plant churches and share the gospel with people who are closest to them,” said Haleigh.
This month we are celebrating the unity of the BFC by hosting the Partners On Mission Fall Fundraiser. For the first time ever, you will be able to share your partnership with two BFC departments at the same time. When you give towards the Partners On Mission Fall Fundraiser, you will support both Victory Valley Camp and Board of Missions. The goal is $50,000. Your gift of $50, $75, $100, or any amount will encourage both departments and the BFC as a whole. The gift total will be split evenly between the two departments.
The gifts VVC receives from Partners On Mission will go towards finishing a new maintenance building which will go along way in freeing up full-time staff’s time for focusing on discipleship of the teens who are serving alongside them.
The gifts BOM receives will go towards upcoming global moblization events.
What do Victory Valley Camp and Board of Missions have in common?
Both Victory Valley Camp and Board of Missions are focused on mobilization which is helping people know the Great Commission, that they have a role in it, and then equipping them for that role. Program Director Grayson Ausley does this with the teens and young adult staff at Victory Valley Camp. Board of Missions Director Jim MacArthur guides any BFCer who is called into global missions to being sent out.
Over the years, many Victory Valley Camp staff members and campers have been challenged to consider global missions and have been sent out as full-time workers, on short-term trips, or supporting global missions from their home church.
What will the gifts be used for?
The total gift amount will be divided evenly between Victory Valley and Board of Missions.
Victory Valley will use their gifts toward finishing a new maintenance building. The shell is up, but electrical, insulation, partition walls, lighting, interior wall finishes, and heating are still needed.
Board of Missions will use their gifts towards upcoming mobilization events. In 2026, the Board of Missions held events such as the Missions On Point Equipping Day for pastors and missions committee members and leaders to develop a plan for identifying, training, and sending out global workers from their church. They also held Mission:Possible for 18 – 30 something year olds to consider global missions. The funds from Partners On Mission will go towards similar events in 2027.
Online giving accepts credit/debit cards and Apple Pay
