Fly from USA to Berlin
10/30 – Thursday
Visit Berlin. Checkpont Charlie, The Wall Museum, and the Brandenburg Gate. Dinner at the Hotel or at restaurants nearby. Lodging: Crowne Plaza Berlin Potsdamer Platz
10/31 – Friday
Visit Wittenberg, where Luther lived and taught for 36 years. See where he posted his 95 Theses on the Palace Church door. Explore Lutherhaus, a former monastery where Martin lived with his family. Visit the Veste, the 900-year-old fortress of Coburg, where Luther took refuge from his enemies behind its triple ramparts. Dinner at restaurants in town. Lodging: Radisson Blu Erfurt
11/1 – Saturday Travel north to Mansfield. Mansfield was the childhood home of the Martin Luther. Return to Erfurt. Then to a special event: Lutherfest for dinner – included. Lodging: Radisson Blu Erfurt
11/2 – Sunday
Drive west to the town of Eisenach. Martin Luther lived in Eisenach during his student days. Drive north-west to Munster where an Anabaptist theocracy was attempted to be established. Dinner at restaurants in town. Lodging: Kaiserhof Munster
11/3 – Monday
Visit Munster before traveling south to the old city of Cologne which once supported the Anabaptist movement but then joined the Counter-Reformation. Dinner at restaurants in town. Lodging: Hilton or Marriot Cologne
11/4 – Tuesday
Drive to Worms. Explore the ancient city of Worms, where Luther refused to back down from his criticism of the church during the famous Diet of Worms. Lunch in town. Drive to Heidelberg In Heidelberg, view the Castle that was twice struck by lightning, and explore the charming Old Town’s cobblestone lanes and medieval atmosphere. Dinner at a restaurant in town. Lodging: Crowne Plaza / Marriott Heidelberg
11/5 – Wednesday
Drive south to Bretten. Bretten is where Phillip Melancthon grew up. Visit his house and museum. Drive to Rottenburg am Neckar where Michael Saddler and the Schleitheim Articles took center stage. We’ll continue south to Uberlingen along the Bodensee and the Swiss border. Family Dinner in the hotel—included. Lodging: Romantik Johanniter-Kreuz, Uberlingen.
11/6 – Thursday Drive around the eastern end of the Bodensee through Austria to St. Gallen, Switzerland. We’ll visit the Baroque Cathedral with the Abbey Library, which houses some 170,000 documents – in part hand-written and over a thousand years old. Then onto Zurich, Switzerland. Dinner at restaurants in town. Lodging: Novotel West, Zurich
11/7 – Friday
Visit Zurich! Zurich was home to Huldrich Zwingli, a contemporary of Luther and Calvin, leading the call for Reformation. Lunch and dinner in town. Lodging: Novotel Zurich City-West
11/8 – Saturday
The Here I Stand, Anabaptist Land Tour Ends. Travel to Zurich Airport for your flight back to the USA.

Lunches and Dinners are not included with this tour—with one exception: Lutherfest and Uberlingen. We want you to experience the local flavor of each town, as you desire and according to your tastes. In each location a list of restaurants will be given to you and you will be free to join others or dine on your own. German meals are wonderful, and not expensive $8-$15, although drinks are pricey! Swiss meals are more expensive—double the price of Germany, but still wonderful!
